Note: Taken as part of Edward S. Curtis's forty volume work, "The North American Indian," comprised of photos of Native North Americans and First Nations individuals from 1907 to 1930. This photo is from volume 11, dedicated to cataloging Haida and Nuu-chah-nulth communities. This photo depicts several Makah-made baskets; Makah weavers frequently created cedar bark and raffia baskets for the tourist trade at the time of Curtis's visit.
