Vishnu in His Cosmic Sleep (stele; unknown Indian sculptor, eleventh century; eleventh century)

Note: A stele depicting Vishnu in his aspect known as Narayana, reclining in cosmic sleep. His hands hold his attributes: a wheel, a conch, and a club. His foot is held by his wife Lakshmi. He is surrounded by attendants and a damaged figure of Brahma also appears. Vishnu is reclining on a cot, or 'charpoi.'
