| Note: On the shoulder two palmettes and four lotus blossoms, linked by spiraling tendrils, frame a maenad moving to the right and looking left. Four figures on the body, framed by black net patterns above and below, are outlined in black. At the left, a young warrior dons his greaves beside an altar. Facing him, a woman to the left holds his spear and shield with a spoked wheel. At the right, a young warriror turns his head toward a nude boy at the right, who holds the warrior's spear and sheathed sword. The young warrior extends his left arm, thus exposing the interior of his shield. He holds a crested helmet n his right hand. Between the warrior and the nude boy is a stool with a garment.This lekythos was assembled from various fragments. The surface is damaged from modern cleaning with acid. | |
