| Note: Six satyrs and five maenads cavort in a frieze around the krater's neck. On side A two of the satyrs are completely nude and carry wineskins, while the third bends over with a leopard skin draped across his back. One maenad wears a chiton and himation, while the other two wear a belted peplos with a leopard skin draped over their left arm. The maenads carry different objects; a leopard, a forked stick, and a thyrsos respectively. One maenad wears a chiton and carries a thyrsos; another maenad wears a peplos and carries two lighted torches as she is being pursued by a satyr. Below this frieze are scenes from Ajax seizing Kassandra (partially preserved). | |
