Note: The inscription identifies the subject as a soldier, seen with a leopard tethered at his feet. The man wears a brilliant red and green costume and carries a bow. His ferocity is emphasized by the leopard, who stares menacingly at the viewer. This and the others in the series seem to have ultimately derived from descriptions and illustrations in "Le navigationi et viaggi nella Turchia" by Nicolo de' Nicolai (1517-1583).
