Note: The portrait forms part of a suite of prints related to the red and blue cockade adopted from the colors of the city of Paris on July 13, 1789 (cf. de Vinck 479 & 480); The profile portrait bust is of Mayor Jean-Sylvain Bailly of Paris; Set within a round medallion, it is topped by a ring to which is tied a ribbon inscribed "Cocarde Nationale Prise le 13 Juillet 1789." Resting on a pedestal inscribed "M.r BAILLY ...," the portrait is adorned with a laurel branch and a crown of oak leaves; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
