Note: A peasant, representative of the Third Estate, rides on the back of a nobleman who leans against an abbot; The abbot holds the scales of justice, weighing two scrolls inscribed "Soulagement du Peuple" and "Egalité et liberté." In his pocket, a scroll is inscribed "Impot Territorial." The peasant applauds, carrying a sword inscribed "Remplie de Courage" and from which a hare is attached. A scroll inscribed "Paix et Concorde" hangs from his pocket. The peasant has killed the birds that were eating his harvest; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no. P980009*). Publication: [ca. 1789].
