Note: "Félix Buhot drypoint / Hindley Heath / from Constable"--in the lower margin; French printmaker Félix-Hilaire Buhot was invited in 1879 by his student Robert Leigh to Barham Court (Kent), England; The print, also known as L'orage, is after the landscape of Branch Hill Pond in Hampstead, painted several times by John Constable (London, V& A South Kensington, Ref. FA.35; Cleveland Museum of Art, Ref. 1972.48); A cart and horses are shown at the base of a hill, with a thunderstorm looming in the sky. Female full-length and bust portraits are etched in the margin at left, with an inscription skeched in the lower left hand corner; "145"--pencilled in lower left. Publication: [ca. 1879].
