Note: The print pays tribute to the generous devotion of the Parisian national guardsmen to France in July 1789; In a round medallion, a soldier kneels to the personification of France or homeland (La Patrie) before a triumphal arch, with the storming of the Bastille in the background. The medallion rests on a pedestal adorned with a trophy comprised of flags, a drum, cannons and weapons; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
