Note: French engraver and etcher, a student of Augustin de Saint-Aubin; The portrait bust is of the French revolutionary bishop Claude Fauchet. Set within an oval medallion, the portrait rests on a tablet adorned with a trophy of ecclesiastic and revolutionary emblems. Represented are a bishop's miter and crosier, a gospel, Fauchet's work La religion nationale, a liberty cap, and Rousseau's Discours sur le contrat social; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no. P980009*); "Coll. S. Lieutaud / B 344-5"--pencilled on verso. Publication: [1791].
