Note: The print was censored during Spring 1789, see letter of Charles Poitevin de Maissemy to Louis Thiroux de Crosme, general lieutenant of the police, Archives nationales, Paris, V₂ 551; The allegorical print on the abuses and the decadence of the Ancien Régime is represented by a funeral procession of the "Lord of Abuses" who is said to have died on April 27, 1789; On the left, victims of the Lord of Abuses, Rousseau, Grandier, Latude, Sirven, Joan of Arc, Calas, Salmon, and Monbailly, stand near trophies of music and the arts. On the right, the nobility and the clergy proceed through a ruined edifice and a deserted landscape, headed by finance minister Jacques Necker; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
