Note: The print and its pendant, an engraving after a portrait by Tortebat of René-Antoine Houasse, were the reception pieces for Trouvain's admittance to the Académie; The engraving after a self-portrait of Jean Jouvenet shows the painter seated in an armchair, holding a palette in the left hand and pointing to the ceiling with the right hand. The portrait is enclosed within a recumbent oval supported by a plinth.
