Cons.o di X mio Sig. et Patron colend.mo / Giacomo Franco; Not listed in: Pasero, Carlo, "Giacomo Franco, editore, incisore, calcografo nei secoli XVI e XVII," Bibliofilia, 37, 1935, p. 332-356; The Venetian printmaker and printer Giacomo Franco etched several prints that commemorated the coronation of Dogaressa Morosina Grimani, documenting the floats and decorations designed for the occasion by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi; The print depicts the water procession held in Venice on 4 May 1597 in honor of the coronation as Dogaressa of Venice of Morosina Grimani, consort of Doge Marino Grimani; The Bucintoro, in which Moresina Grimani sits accompanied by ladies, is shown on the Grand Canal, with a view of Piazza San Marco in the background. A mock naval battle is being performed on the canal: frigates fire at each other before a display of fireworks; Ink stamp printed in purple on recto: GV with an oval between the letters and an inventory number in pencil (379). Binding holes in the left margin; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**). Publication: Venetia: A S.
