Note: Signed, lower right; Date from: Robison. Dated 1757 by Hind; Inscription in the lower margin: Altri vogliono che sia parte della Reggia di Tullo Ostilio terzo Re di Roma. Questa Fabrica però per la sua magnifica sodezza dimostra essere stata fatta piuttosto al tempo de' Cesari che di alcun Re. Sopra di questi Archi di grossi travertini e' fabricato il Campanile e Convento de' Padri della missione de' S.S. Gio. e Paolo; Starting in the 1740s and continuing throughout his career, Giovanni Battista Piranesi produced large-format plates, issued individually or in sets, known as the Vedute di Roma; The etching, from the Vedute di Roma, shows the substructure of the Temple of Claudius near the Church of Ss. Giovanni e Paolo. It was later issued under a different title: Veduta del piano superiore del Serraglio delle Fiere ... Publication: [1750-1751].
