Note: Printmaker who worked for the Calcografia di Roma; The print depicts a procession held in Rome on 8 September 1846 in honor of Pope Pius IX, who was elected on 16 June 1846; Pope Pius IX is shown seated in a carriage, waving at the crowds in the street. Spectators watch the festivities from the palace balconies and windows on the via del Corso, which are hung with draperies and flags inscribed: VIVA PIO IX; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
