Note: The Bolognese etcher and painter Giovanni Antonio Lorenzini was a Franciscan monk in the monastery of San Francesco, Bologna, and subsequently at Santa Croce, Florence, and was thus named Fra Antonio; The print depicts a catafalque in the form of an octagonal baldachin ornamented with a coat of arms of the Gonzaga family. The shield is quartered with a displayed eagle in each compartment and is ensigned with a coronet; Trimmed within plate mark and glued to mount annotated in brown ink: Margaritone Aretino Pittore e / Scultore .... Binding holes in the left margin of the mount; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
