Note: This print is not listed in P. Jessen's "Meister des Ornamentstichs." Dutch engraver and print dealer. An unsigned composition with a winged putto, arms, armor, and fragmented sculptural antiquities. Attribution to Bosch from pencil annotation in the lower right corner of mount: "Corn. Bos? 1570." Forms part of Reproductive prints mostly after Peter Paul Rubens (Special Collections accn. no. P990017**); Hinge mounted, trimmed to plate mark. Publication: [15--]. "Cimbrico reportata Romae in via exquilina apud aedes S:ti Eusebii extant"--one line below the image. British School of Rome says of their impression of the same print: "4th plate of Antiquarum Statuarum Urbis Romae, Quae in publicis privatisque locis visuntur, Icones […] [dated between 1607 and 1620]. This plate is printed on the same sheet as: Trophoea marmorea ut aliqui existimant C. Marii à bello. [… which] depicts the so-called Trophies of Marios scultpure, now in the balustrade of Piazza del Campidoglio." [Tropaea or Monumenta Marii were monuments erected by Marius to commemorate his victories over Jugurtha and over the Cimbri and Teutones, which were removed by Sulla, and afterwards restored by Caesar.]
