Note: Title from Hollstein. The print is also known as Retour de la Chasse de Diane and as Nymphs avec du gibier (cf. Dutuit); "Pet. Paul Rubbens pinxit. S. à Bolswert sculpsit."--lower left corner, within the plate mark; "Gillis Hendricx excud. Antuerpiae"--lower right corner, within the plate mark; "Sic vobis lassae sint proemia fausta puellae: Conueniunt epulis poma feraeque bene"--lower margin, below the image; The Flemish engraver Schelte Adamsz. Bolswert, brother of Boëtius Bolswert, produced a large number of reproductive prints after Rubens, Jordaens, van Dyck, and other artists; A reproductive print by Schelte Bolswert after Rubens's painting from ca. 1617 in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, in Dresden (cf. Jaffé). It depicts the goddes Diana in the company of nymphs, satyrs, and hunting dogs, carrying game and fruit; Forms part of Reproductive prints mostly after Peter Paul Rubens (Special Collections accn. no. P990017**); Trimmed to plate mark, upper and right hinge mounted. Publication: [16--].
