Note: Impressions of the etching were issued with Andrea Cavalcanti's description of the obsequies: Eseqvie del serenissimo principe Francesco ... (In Fiorenza : Per Gio. Batista Landini, 1634); The print depicts the funeral ceremony of Prince Francesco de' Medici, celebrated by Ferdinando II in the Church of San Lorenzo, Florence, on August 30, 1634; The catafalque designed by Alfonso Parigi is shown at the crossing of the church, below a canopy, flanked by two skeletons on horseback. The scene is framed by tableau curtains adorned with the Medici coat of arms; Trimmed in upper margin, with some loss of image; partially erased monogram in the right corner of the lower margin; Library has another impression of the etching folded and bound into Andrea Cavalcanti's funeral book Eseqvie del serenissimo principe Francesco ...; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
