This resource is a guide to information on more than 14,000 English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh artists represented in the Witt Library. The Checklist of British Artists offers access to approximately 300,000 photographs and other illustrations of British paintings, drawings, and engravings from the end of the Middle Ages to the present. The strength of the Witt Library's holdings of records of many minor and very minor artists makes this a uniquely valuable source of information. Each listing includes name and variant names; date and location of artist's birth and death; bibliographic information; professional affiliations and organizations; and estimated quantity of the Library's holdings.
