Auvera, Johann Wolfgang van der (German sculptor, 1708-1756)

Note: German Rococo sculptor noted for his brilliantly complex Rococo church decorations that were hugely influential in the development of that style in Würzburg. He is also noted for the woodwork in the mirror room (Spiegelkabinett) of the Würzburg Residenz (destroyed during World War II); some pieces of carved furniture made for the same rooom survive, notably console tables with rich bases and verre églomisé tops. He also produced some large-scale figurative sculpture.
