My Getty story was on Mother's Day 2004. My sister and I decided to take my mother to the Getty Center as a special treat.

We also brought my husband and my four-month-old daughter, Isabella. We were worried because we thought it might be too much for Isabella to handle.

Scene of the Crime: Photo by Weegee features the legendary photographer's shrewd shots of New York City by night. Murders, fires, and stolen kisses are caught in the stark light of his flashbulb.

The politics and personalities of the 20th century take center stage in the accompanying exhibition Pictures for the Press, featuring iconic media images from the 1940s to the 1970s.

In 1531, the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is said to have miraculously appeared on Juan Diego's cloak. This relic is venerated to this day by thousands in the basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

Learn how this image has been used as evidence of the Virgin of Guadalupe's miraculous powers from Jeanette Favrot Peterson, associate professor of art history at UC Santa Barbara and an expert on Latin American art.

Admission to the Getty Villa is always FREE. A ticket is required. Each Villa ticket allows you to bring up to three children ages 15 and under with you in one car. Please note that this does not apply to tickets for events, such as lectures and performances. Check current ticket availability online or call (310) 440-7300. Ticket availability is updated weekly for a two-month period. Same-day tickets may also become available online without advance notice. Groups of 15 or more must make reservations by phone. Parking is $15, but FREE for evening events after 5:00 p.m.
