Perseus & Phineus / S. Ricci

Engage your students in the investigation of ancient Greek and Roman mythology. These stories from antiquity, which explained the inexplicable—the fates of humans and the mysteries of the natural world—are the foundation of Western art and literature and have been studied and reinterpreted over the centuries.

This curriculum is designed for elementary and secondary teachers. Five representative objects from the Getty Museum's collection will prompt classroom discussion and learning about mythology. Questions for teaching and background information on each object are included in the Image Bank. California State visual arts, language arts, and social science content standards are listed in each lesson plan.
