Record Type: Person
Arnold, Charles Dudley (American photographer, 1844-1927)

Note: Arnold was an architectural photographer active in Buffalo, New York until 1888, at which point he opened a second studio in New York City, New York and commuted between the two during the years 1888 to 1891. In 1892, Arnold was hired as the official photographer for the World's Columbia Exposition's construction bureau, to document the construction of the "White City" in Chicago, Illinois. Arnold photographed the development and construction of the exposition in 1892, and produced a two-volume album of prints for the architects and administrators. In 1893, Arnold was awarded the photographic concession, the exclusive rights to produce images of the exposition. This right was disputed by other photographers and revoked in late 1893. Arnold was then replaced as head photographer by William Henry Jackson. In 1901, Arnold was appointed official photographer of the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.
