O'Brien, Glenn (American writer and editor, 1947-2017)

Note: He was the first editor of Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine, from 1971 to 1974. Following this he became the New York bureau chief of Rolling Stone magazine. He hosted the public access channel television show, “Glenn O’Brien’s TV Party” created in 1978, which ran for five years and featured guests such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Klaus Nomi, DNA, and Fab 5 Freddy. Throughout his career he acted as a columnist. He was one of the founding editors of the arts publication Bomb. He wrote many monographs and catalog essays on artists including Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Prince, and Christopher Wool. His personal art collection includes works by Sarah Charlesworth, Richard Prince, Christopher Wool, James Nares, and Tom Sachs. |
