Note: Becker is known as a hypermedia researcher, musician, and sole member of Monoton. Under this name he has released audio recordings since 1980. He appeared as an actor in Wolfgang Petersen's anti-war drama Das Boot (1981). He has also created meta-mathematical and performative multimedia installations, audio software art and developed theatrical productions. He was Director of the Institute For New Culture Technologies and founder of Public Netbase and World-information.org. His work as a theorist has seen him publish a number of books.
