Note: Jesuit university founded in 1551 by St. Ignatius of Loyola. It closed in 1870 with the Capture of Rome and the Jesuits expelled. It reopened as the Pontifical Gregorian University. The original building was designed by Bartolomeo Ammanati, and the architect was G. Valeriani. |
