Master of Fogdö (Scandinavian painter, active first quarter of 15th century, active Sweden and Denmark)

Note: The artist is so named after wall paintings in Fogdö Church and in the Lady chapel in Strängnäs Cathedral, both in
Södermanland, Sweden. He has sometimes been thought to be the master responsible for paintings in the church at Undløse in Sjaelland, Denmark, and the name Union Master is derived from allegations that he worked in both politically united Sweden and Denmark. Although there are some similarities in the figure style and ornamentation between these works, there are enough differences that identification cannot be proved. |
