Gomide, Antonio Gonćalves (Brazilian painter and designer, 1895-1967)
|
Note: Brazilian painter. He moved to Geneva with his family in 1913, where he studied at the Fine Arts School and met Sergio Milliet at the Business School. From 1924 to 1926, he held a studio and Paris and kept contacts with some European artists belonging to the vanguard movement, who turned to be a major influence. He definitely moved to Brazil in 1932 and entered the Sociedade Pró-Arte Moderna and the Clube dos Artistas Modernos. His work then starts emphasizing national themes, by bringing together abstract shapes and indigenous patterns or landscapes. |
