DeArmond, Dale Burlison (American illustrator and woodcutter, 1914-2006)

Note: Dale DeArmond was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, on July 2, 1914. After her marriage to author Robert DeArmond in 1935, she moved to Alaska where she lived in Sitka, Ketchikan, and Juneau. She was primarily a woodcut artist who was taught through the Famous Artists correspondence course and various workshops such as those conducted by Danny Pierce. She was a librarian at the Juneau Public Library and also authored several books illustrating them with images of Alaska Native-American mythology and folklore. DeArmond died on November 28, 2006. |
