Bad Heart Bull, Amos (American draftsman, 1869-1913)
|
Note: Bad Heart Bull was a scout for the United States Army in 1890, and chronicled the history of the Oglala Lakota tribe in a ledger. He completed 415 drawings which catalog the life of the tribe until 1903, depicting such events as the conflicts with the Crow from 1856-1875, and the Battle of Little Bighorn. Each page of the ledger book was photographed before it was buried with Bad Heart Bull's sister, Pretty Cloud, upon her death in 1947. |
