|
Note: Born 1 January 1845; died 30 August 1903. Circa 1863, Wittick learned photography from E. E. Mangold, a photographer in Moline, Illinois. In the late 1870s, Wittick opened his first photographic studio in Moline, Illinois. In 1878 or 1879, Wittick moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1880, he formed a partnership with another photographer, R.W. Russell, who operated the studio while Wittick travelled to photograph Indian tribes and settlers. In 1881, the partnership moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was dissolved in 1884. From 1884 to 1900, Wittick operated a studio in Gallup, New Mexico. He moved his studio to Fort Wingate, New Mexico, in 1900. |
