'Aliquli Jabbadar (Persian court artist and miniaturist, active ca. 1666-1694)
|
Note: 'Aliquli Jabbadar is one of the earliest known eclectic artists in Irān. Evidence suggests that he was a Georgian convert who immigrated into Irān in the mid-17th century. During his career he undertook several miniature projects and some examples of them dating back to 1674 are in the St. Petersburg Album. The content of his paintings relates to the period, but some references to the European world of the 17th and 16th centuries can still be identified. Another factor that makes his style unique is the attention given to objects in the paintings. |
