Mir Musavvir (Persian illustrator and painter, active ca. 1510-1548)
|
Note: Mir Musavvir was one of the well-known painters of the Safavid dynasty. Commissions include the wall paintings at the palace of Prince Sam Mirza and numerous illustrations in royal copies of Nizami's Khamsa and Firdawsi's Shāhnāma. The most distinctive elements of his style are the attention to detail and the realistic presentation of figures. In response to a lucrative offer from a Mughal emperor, Humayun, he followed Mir Sayyid 'Ali to India (1548). |
