Mengelberg, Wilhelm (German sculptor, painter, and architect, 1837-1919)
|
Note: The last significant exponent of neo-Gothic sculpture in Germany, many of his noteworthy projects were for Cologne Cathedral, St. Willibrordus in Utrecht, St. Paul in Aachen, and the cathedral of St. Catharina in Utrecht. Mengelberg worked mainly for the Dutch bishopric of Utrecht from 1869 on. He was a leading member of the Guild of St. Barnulphus, which was strongly interested in medieval art. |
