Aubert, François (French photographer, 1829-1906, active in Mexico, 1865-1867)
|
Note: Aubert came to Mexico from France in 1864, where he studied with and later took over the business of photographer Jules Amiel. He opened a studio in Mexico City in 1865 or 1866 and became Emperor Maximillian's preferred photographer. He produced a large volume of work that included portraits of the royal family, along with images of historic sites in Mexico City, street vendors, and local types. Aubert left Mexico soon after Maximillian's assassination in 1867. |
