Pane, Gina (French performance and installation artist, 1939-1990)
|
Note: French artist born to Italian parents, Pane was a member of the 1970s Body Art movement in France, called "Art corporel.” She is best known for her performance pieces involving extreme self-inflicted injury, such as cutting her skin with razor blades or putting out fires with her bare hands and feet, intended to illicit an intense experience in the viewer. Pane died young after a long illness. |
