Staedtler Mars GmbH & Co. (German writing instrument makers, established 1835)

Note: Manufactures writing and drafting instruments, and office supplies. Members of the Staedtler family of Nürnberg began to make pencils in the late-17th century. A descendant founded "J. S. Staedtler" in 1835 to manufacture pencils. The company expanded throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, changing its name to "J. S. Staedtler, Mars Pencil and Pen Factory", in 1937, and consolidating as "Staedtler Noris GmbH" in 1971. The present company structure resulted from further reorganisation in 1975. Staedtler instruments are manufactured in 7 countries and a network of subsidiaries in 20 countries assure distribution and sales. |
