Note: The town of Halle is located on the Charleroi-Brussels canal in the Belgian province of Brabant, ten kilometers southwest of Brussels. It is noted as a pilgrimage site for a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary, the Black Virgin, located in the Basilica of Our Lady, a 14th-century Gothic church. It also houses the Southwest Brabant Museum. Its population by a 2000 estimate is about 34,000.
