Note: Located in valley of Bistriţa river, surrounded by mountains. Piatra Neamţ was first documented in 15th century as a town where fairs were held. Bistriţa monastery was founded here in the 15th century. Stephen the Great of Moldavia built the great church of St. John there in 1497.
