Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, a band within the Ojibwe Nation. The reservation spans approximately 250 acres at the western edge of Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the Ottowa National Forest. Specifically, it lies a few miles north of the Wisconsin border in Gogebic County, Michigan. The reservation was inititially created in 1854, pursuant to the Treaty of La Pointe.
