Note: Quilted textile garments for the upper body with sleeves and often a skirt, furnished with laces for the attachment of armor pieces of hard material, and often inset with mail gussets for the armpits. They were worn in the 14th and 15th centuries under other armor for added protection and to prevent chafing.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Gewatteerd kledingtextiel voor het bovenlichaam met mouwen en vaak een rok, uitgerust met veters om de wapenrustingen van hard materiaal aan te hechten, en vaak ingezet met okselstukken van maliën. Deze werden gedragen in de 14e en de 15e eeuw onder andere wapenrustingen, voor extra bescherming en om schuren te voorkomen. 
German ..... Gestepptes textiles Bekleidungsstück für den Oberkörper mit Ärmeln und häufig auch einem Rock, das mit Schnüren zum Befestigen von Rüstungsteilen aus hartem Material ausgestattet ist und häufig Verstärkungen aus Kettenpanzerung in den Achselhöhlen hat. Es wurde im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert als zusätzlicher Schutz und zur Vermeidung von Wundscheuern unter Rüstungen getragen. 
Spanish ..... Tela de calidad que se pone sobre el cuerpo con mangas y falda equipada con los cordones para cerrarse debajo de la armaduras. Fueron usadas en los siglos XIV y XV debajo de la armadura para la protección y evitar el frotamiento.
