Note: Generally refers to small settlements of indigenous people; specifically may refer to settlements and tracts of land in the western United States that were federally recognized and allotted for Native Americans to live, primarily established between 1906 and 1910. These Native populations had been driven to near extinction, made landless and often homeless by non-native migration into the western states, especially after the mid-19th century.
