|
Note: Relatively small ancient Greek vessels with a globular body, a short neck, a flat disk-shaped mouth with a small orifice, and a handle (or sometimes two) extending from the shoulder to the rim; used for holding oils, perfumes, and ointments. They are usually made of terracotta. Uses of the aryballoi included in funeral rituals and by athletes who wore them on their wrists, suspended by thongs or strings. |

Arabic ..... أوعية يونانية قديمة صغيرة نسبيًا ذات جسم كروي، ورقبة قصيرة، وفم مسطح على شكل قرص مع فتحة صغيرة، ومقبض (أو في بعض الأحيان اثنين) يمتد من الكتف إلى الحافة؛ تستخدم لحفظ الزيوت والعطور والمراهم. عادة ما تكون مصنوعة من الطين. استخدامات أريبالوي متضمنة في طقوس الجنازة ومن قبل الرياضيين الذين يرتدونها على معصميهم، معلقة بواسطة سيور جلدية أو خيوط. |
Dutch ..... Betrekkelijk kleine Oudgriekse vaten met een bolvormige buik, een korte hals, een platte, schijfvormige flessenmond met een kleine opening, en een handvat (soms twee), uitlopend vanaf de schouder tot de rand; gebruikt om oliën, parfums en zalven in te doen. Deze uit terracotta vervaardigde vaten werden gedragen door atleten, die ze aan hun pols droegen, vastgemaakt aan een riem of een stuk touw. Aryballoi hadden ook een belangrijke functie bij funeraire rituelen. |
Spanish ..... Vasijas relativamente pequeñas de la Antigua Grecia con un cuerpo globular, un cuello corto, una boca plana en forma de disco con un pequeño orificio, y un asa (o algunas veces dos) que se extiende desde el hombro hasta el borde; usadas para guardar aceites y ungüentos. |
