Note: General term for Native North American period and culture dating approximately 1000- 200 BCE, characterized by the continuation of traditions begun during the Late and Terminal Archaic periods, such as mound-building, burial complexes, inter-regional trade, reliance on wild and domesticated plants, and movements of small groups to exploit seasonally available resources. Production of pottery became more widespread in the following regions: Eastern Interior, the Southeast, and the Northeast; the Far Northeast, the Sub-Arctic, and a bit later, the Northwest and Plains regions. |

Dutch ..... Algemene term voor een inheems Amerikaanse periode en cultuur van circa 1000-200 v. Chr., die zich kenmerkt door de voortzetting van tradities die tijdens de Late en Terminale Archaïsche periode waren begonnen, zoals kunstmatige heuvels, grafcomplexen, interregionale handel, gebruik van wilde en gekweekte planten, en verplaatsingen van kleine groepen om gebruik te maken van seizoensgebonden voedselbronnen. De productie van pottenbakkersgoed raakte wijder verbreid in het oostelijk binnenland, het zuidoosten, het noordoosten, het verre noordoosten, het subarctisch gebied en iets later het noordwesten en de grote vlakten.
