Note: Refers to a type of maiolica earthenware, distinguished by its milky white base glaze, made in and around the city of Puebla, Mexico since the sixteenth century. Talavera's name derives from Talavera de la Reina, Spain, whose tin-glazed earthenware served as the initial model for this colonial variant introduced by Spanish craftsmen.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een soort majolica die wordt gekenmerkt door een melkachtig witte basisglans. Het wordt sinds de zestiende eeuw in en rondom de Mexicaanse stad Puebla gemaakt. De naam Talavera is afgeleid van de Spaanse stad Talavera de la Reina, waar aardewerk met tinglazuur werd gemaakt. Dat diende oorspronkelijk als model voor deze koloniale variant, die door Spaanse ambachtslieden werd geïntroduceerd.
