In archaeology, refers to distinct groups of pottery types classified according to characteristics of temper, hardness, type of paste, and surface treatment, rather than by shape or decoration, such as Kamares ware.

| Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor een bepaald soort vervaardigde artikelen, doorgaans gebruiksvoorwerpen, die meestal worden vernoemd naar het materiaal, gebruik, de stijlnaam of een andere eigenschap, zoals aardewerk of keukengerei. |

Bezieht sich auf eine Klasse industrieller Erzeugnisse, in der Regel Gebrauchsobjekte, meist durch das Material, die Verwendung, den Typ oder eine andere Eigenschaft, wie zum Beispiel Keramik oder Geschirr, festgelegt. In der Archäologie, bezieht sich auf verschiedene Gruppen von Keramikklassifikationen, die nach charaktersitischen Eigenschaften wie Härte, Kleber und Oberflächenbearbeitung und nicht durch Form oder Dekoration, wie beim Kamares-Stil. |
