Note: Coins, specifically the nickels designed by James E. Fraser and minted in the United States between 1913 and 1938, which were hand-carved by itinerant American workers of the time, many of whom were homeless. The coins used the nickels' images as their base, and were altered to depict images of loved ones or friends, then subsequently traded for meals, a place to sleep, or other favors.

| Dutch ..... Munten, specifiek de nickels (stuivers) die James E. Fraser ontwierp en sloeg tussen 1913 en 1938 in de Verenigde Staten, die met de hand werden gegraveerd door rondtrekkende Amerikaanse arbeiders, van wie velen dakloos waren. Men gebruikte de afbeeldingen op de munten als basis en paste ze aan om afbeeldingen van dierbaren of vrienden te creëren. Vervolgens ruilde men ze voor maaltijden, overnachtingen of andere zaken of diensten. |
