| Dutch ..... Een fylum van bacteriën dat bestaat uit de purperbacteriën en hun verwanten, die een tak van de boom der eubacteriën vormt. Deze groep grotendeels gramnegatieve bacteriën wordt geclassificeerd op basis van de homologie van equivalente nucleotidensequenties van 16S ribosoom-RNA of door hybridisatie van ribosoom-RNA of -DNA met 16S en 23S ribosoom-RNA.
