Note: Wood of the species Quercus virginiana, native to the southeastern and gulf area of the United States into Mexico, and Cuba. It is the hardest of all American oaks. It is used in the construction of ships, wagons, and farm implements. Favored for shipbuilding because of its tolerance for salt water and its resistance to decay, it was famously used to build the USS Constitution sailing ship, nicknamed Old Ironsides, in the 1790s.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 取自南方活櫟(Quercus virginiana)的木材,為美國延伸至墨西哥、古巴的東南部及海灣地區的原生種植物。這是所有美洲櫟樹中最堅硬的一種,用於建造船隻、馬車、農耕器具,因其對鹽水的耐受度極佳,且不易腐朽,故為造船業偏好。這種木材在1790年代,被用來建造綽號「老鐵殼船」(Old Ironsides)的美國海軍「憲法號」(USS Constitution)大帆船,並因此而聞名。 
Dutch ..... Hout van de soort Quercus virginiana, die inheems is in het zuidoostelijke kustgebied van de Verenigde Staten tot in Mexico en Cuba. Het is de hardste soort van alle Amerikaanse eiken. Het wordt gebruikt voor de bouw van schepen, wagons en landbouwwerktuigen. In de scheepsbouw werd het hout het meest gebruikt vanwege zijn weerstand tegen zout water en omdat het niet snel ging rotten. Het werd in de jaren negentig van de 18e eeuw gebruikt voor de bouw van het beroemde zeilschip USS Constitution, dat de bijnaam Old Ironsides had. 
Spanish ..... Madera del árbol perteneciente a la especie Quercus virginiana, nativa del sur de Estados Unidos. Es una especie característica siempreverde y su madera es la más dura entre los robles americanos. Se utiliza en la construcción de vagones, barcos e implementos agrícolas.
